RTS Scripting Expert - Version 1.0

Description

The Run-Time Systems Scripting Expert integrates Active X Scripting with the Borland Integrated Development Environments. The majority of the Open Tools API is exposed as Automation compatible interfaces allowing you to interact with the project options, editor, and menu items. You can even create and add your own wizards and menu items to the IDE without the complicated compile and debugging normally involved in creating most wizards or experts.

Included in this package are various script files that exercise the scripting expert; please check them out and start exploring the possibilities.

Requirements

In order to use the RTS Scripting Expert you require the following minimum configuration:

• Windows 95/98/NT (latest service pack)
• Delphi 4 and/or C++ Builder 4 (latest service pack)
• Microsoft Active Scripting Engines (version 5.0 or better)
• Microsoft Windows Scripting Host (version 2.0 or better - only required for some of the scripts)
• HTML Help Viewer (version 1.1 or better)
• Microsoft Script Debugger 1.0a (or Visual Studio)

Installation

At this point, the scripting expert does not come with an installation program. Please refer to the RTSBSE40.CHM help file for instructions on how to install the software.

Removal

If you wish to remove the RTS Scripting Expert you can do so simply by removing it from the packages list using Components | Install Packages. After removing the IDE integration you should un-register the automation library using regsvr32 /u rtsnta40.dll and then remove all files installed during the installation.

Known Issues

The following list of known issues surmise the only known remaining problems:

1. You cannot change the active project using the NTA interfaces (this appears to be an Open Tools bug)
2. The form and component objects are not exposed via automation objects. I haven't really had the need to manipulate the forms programmatically from script that much. If you want this functionality let me know and if enough people want it and time permits I will add these interfaces to the API.
3. This is beta software, please expect some problems and report anything that should be fixed or suggestions.
